Thatcham Quality Accredited Range Grows

Following the successful launch of Thatcham Quality Accreditation at the start of 2007, Thatcham continue to increase the accredited range.

This week Thatcham confirmed the accreditation of a suite of Tracker Network UK Ltd’s products along with a suite of products provided by Cobra Automotive Technologies Ltd.

Tracker Network (UK) Ltd has been successful with accreditation applications for Tracker Retrieve, Monitor and Horizon as ‘Stolen Vehicle Location Devices’ and Tracker Response as a ‘Stolen Vehicle Tracking Device’. Cobra have also been successful with applications for Cobra Connex, ADR and Track Q / Trak Q Attivo.

These products add to the list of Telemetry based products from NavTrak, TrafficMaster, JaguarWatch, LandRoverWatch and I-mob already accredited to this new scheme.

Thatcham are working with many other manufacturers of both telemetry based vehicle security products and mechanical and electrical theft deterrent products.

Theo Jansen, Cobra's Marketing Director for Location Based Services, commented: “At Cobra Automotive Technologies, we believe that working for the automotive industry requires product quality and reliability to be at the centre of the company strategy and are committed to fully comply with the strictest technical requirements for all the security devices we supply to the market.

The new TQA accreditation from Thatcham is a rigorous verification programme that takes quality assurance for Aftermarket products to a new level. We are pleased with the recent accreditation of our Cobra Connex platform, that will confirm confidence in the product performance for installers and insurance companies and provide our customers with highly reliable solutions.”

The TQA scheme also has the support of motor insurers. Bill Pownall, Motor Risk Manager at Norwich Union, said “As a company with a risk management underwriting philosophy it is important that we are able to provide our customers with a comprehensive range of vehicle security and tracking solutions which will meet the ever demanding needs of both customers and underwriters. TQA Tracking accreditation adds a new and effective dimension to these solutions and will be welcomed by all concerned.”

Dean Lander, Thatcham’s Accreditation Manager added, “We are working with some of the top manufacturers and service providers in the UK to provide an independent certification of only the highest quality products. Each manufacturer has to prove conformity with Thatcham standards for manufacturing quality and each product type has to satisfy stringent defined criteria to become Thatcham accredited. I am pleased to be able to confirm accreditation of these latest products and look forward to announcing more in the near future.”
