Taxiwise Calls For Summer Of Safety

British Summer Time gets underway this weekend with national taxi safety campaigner Taxiwise reminding everyone to stay safe.

Clocks go forward this Sunday marking the start of warmer days and longer, brighter evenings.  As a result, many of us will think about starting that party a little earlier.  But with all that fun comes associated risks that Taxiwise want to see reduced.

Hazel Crawford-Upton, spokesperson for Taxiwise said: “With more people out and about enjoying the sunshine it’s important to remind people to check that they are getting into a legitimate taxi before catching a lift home.

“It’s all too easy for people to have a couple more drinks than usual and then simply get into the first vehicle that pulls up offering to take them home.  Make sure you play it safe, take a note of the license number plate and only hail a hackney carriage or book a cab in advance.”

Alongside the police and other safety campaigners, Taxiwise advises women to recognise the dangers associated with bogus taxi drivers in order to get them home safely.
