Keen gardeners and people with a particular girl’s name might be interested in the registration mark, BL05 SOM, which is one of 1449 personal plates being put up for sale at DVLA Personalised Registrations’ next auction which is being held at the Sketchley Grange Hotel, Hinckley, East Midlands between 15 and 17 September.

Other plates included in the auction and likely to attract the attention of green fingered motorists include VEG 6Y, GRA 55Y and POP 1E. There is also a wide range of dateless plates featuring many different letter and number combinations.

All the personalised registrations in the DVLA auction are given reserve prices - the minimum price at which they will be sold - and these start from as low as £250.

Damian Lawson, DVLA’s auction manager, commented: "We always try to hold our auctions at special locations that can be easily accessed from around the country to make them a good day out as well giving people the opportunity to get distinctive registrations at prices to suit all budgets."

To register to bid at the auction, an auction catalogue must be purchased by 4pm on 5 September 2005 from www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk . Telephone internet and postal bids can also be arranged. For more information about how the auction is run and for a full list of the registrations available, log on to the website.
