H&H Raises Its Horizons For 2006

Fast growing auction house to hold more sales in more venues and add separate motorcycle sales to its roster

H&H, Europe’s largest specialist historic car and motorcycle auction house, is to spread its wings for 2006. It will increase its number of car sales, add to its list of venues and institute a number of separate motorcycle sales.

The company will continue to hold some sales at its spiritual home - the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire - but also has plans to run auctions at a range of other locations around the UK from South–East to South-West, and possibly overseas as well. The only venue to be dropped from the current list of car sales is that linked to the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh in February, as it no longer meets H&H’s criteria.

Dedicated motorcycle auctions will be held in Bristol (February) and two other venues to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Said H&H Managing Director Simon Hope, "We are extremely excited about next year. We have been setting records throughout 2005 and are being encouraged by our delighted customers to continue raising our horizons."

Milestones achieved by H&H this year include:

  • New world record for Lagonda M45 - £430,000
  • New world record for a steel-bodied Jaguar E-Type - £295,625
  • New overall sales total - £1.6 million, Stoneleigh, February
  • New Buxton sales total - £1.2 million, Buxton, July

The company has been gearing up for this increased activity throughout 2005 by the appointment of a number of key new staff. The car department has been bolstered by Damian Jones, previously of Cheffins, while George Beale has been secured to run and grow the motorcycle operation. Existing staff member Matthew Kershaw has already made his mark by dramatically increasing H&H’s turnover of automobilia.

H&H’s remaining sales for 2005 include:

  • Buxton - September 20/21 (cars, motorcycles and automobilia)
  • Syon Park - October 3 (the Van Dijk Collection and other vehicles)
  • Buxton - November 22/23 (cars, motorcycles and automobilia)
