ATS Euromaster is Looking For Car Enthusiast Dads To Join An Expert Panel

New research, conducted by ATS Euromaster, shows that 23 per cent of UK motorists turn to their Dads when it comes to everyday car advice before asking anyone else.

One in five motorists ask their local garage or service centre for car advice, but many turn to their Dad with 50 per cent trusting their judgment, 24 per cent say Dad always knows the answer and 16 per cent because it's more convenient.

The ATS Euromaster research also shows that 21 per cent of Dads are asked for advice on how to get from A to B, 20 per cent are asked how to change a tyre and 18 per cent how to check and change oil.

Following the research, ATS Euromaster has launched a UK-wide search in order to find an expert panel of motoring-enthusiast Dads to give advice and tips to confused motorists on the ATS Euromaster Facebook page.

Anita Ellis, Online Marketing Manager at ATS Euromaster, said: "With one in six people admitting they ask their Dads about absolutely everything to do with their cars, our research shows that there are thousands of Dads offering motoring advice to their loved ones and not receiving the praise and recognition they deserve.

"We want to reward these unsung heroes, so we're launching a nationwide search to find the Dads who are in pole-position when it comes to motoring advice."

"If your Dad is a car enthusiast and you think he could help other motoring novices, then why not nominate him to be part of our expert Dad panel? All you have to do is visit our Facebook page, upload a photo of your Dad and tell us why you think he should be included in our expert panel."

The research shows that women are also much more likely to turn to their Dads, with one in three (37 per cent) asking them for help with their cars. The most common request is how to change a tyre (40 per cent) and how to check tyre pressure (35%).

Anita Ellis continued: "Most of us at one time or another, particularly when we first started driving, have relied on our Dads to answer all of our car questions - I know I did! This competition is a great opportunity to thank him for those years of advice so why not nominate your Dad today."

Up to five dads will be selected to join the ATS Euromaster's expert panel, each winning up to £250 to spend on their cars. Entries must be received by 22nd October 2011.
