Morgan Works Team Qualifies For Spa 24-Hour Race
Published: 25th July 2003
The trio, who are racing in the National Class, took to the beautiful Spa circuit in the Aero 8 GT car for three qualifying sessions. A best lap time of 2.33.7 was secured by one of the only female drivers in the field, Paula Cook.
Jacques Laffite, who drove the car for the very first time yesterday, used the qualifying sessions to familiarise himself with the Aero 8 GT:
"I had great fun out there - the Morgan is a superb sports car. It handles well and the engine is fantastic. It has a huge amount of torque, which is perfect for this circuit. There are still a few things I need to get used to but that will come as the race progresses. Fingers crossed for a finish and maybe even a podium."
David Dowse, Morgan Works Race Team Manager summarises the feelings of the team:
"Everything’s looking in great shape and we’re
looking forward now to the race itself. We’ve had a long hard
road getting to the start line and now its time to show what we
can do."
