Paula Cook Joins Morgan Works Race Team

Paula Cook

Paula Cook, a regular competitor in the British Formula 3 and Touring Car Championships, has joined the Morgan Works Race Team to contest two rounds of the FIA GT Championship.

Morgan has recently signed Cook to race alongside Morgan Works lead driver, Neil Cunningham in the forthcoming FIA GT races at Donington on 29 June and the Spa 24-hour race on 27 July. Neil currently holds second place in the British GT Cup Class Championship in the Richard Thorne Motorsport Morgan Aero 8.

Paula has an impressive racing background, succeeding in most levels of British motorsport competition. She has tested for F3000 and the US-based Toyota Atlantic CART Series and, most recently, competed in the Porsche Supercup in Monte Carlo and the SEAT Cupra Challenge Series.

"I am hugely excited at the prospect offered by working with Morgan, and hope that these two rounds lead to a longer association," comments Paula. "Morgan has had a significant motorsport history and I am looking forward to taking that name forward into the future of British and International motorsport."

On driving with Paula, Neil Cunningham comments: "Paula is really quick and incredibly consistent. These are exactly the traits the team requires for the forthcoming races. I am looking forward to seeing what we can both achieve out there."

The Morgan Works Team has been concentrating on an international programme of races since the shock news in March that its entry for the 2003 Le Mans race was unsuccessful.

If sufficient sponsorship support is achieved, the FIA GT Championship will serve as an important start to a year-long programme, which will see Morgan back at Le Mans next year, and will take in the 1000km Suzuka Pokka and the 24-hour Bathurst race.

Charles Morgan comments: "The result so far for both Morgan Aero 8’s in the British GT Championship is hugely significant to our programme. It proves that the car can hold its own against the likes of our chief competitors, like Porsche and Ferrari. I am looking forward to seeing what it can do on an international platform, with Neil and Paula behind the wheel."
