The New Morgan Aero 8 (2015)

Published 3 March 2015 Staff

The new 2015 Morgan Aero 8 has been unveiled at this week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Since the original Aero 8 went on sale in 2000 Morgan have sold over 1250 editions of the model platform. This unveiling reveals the 5th generation model and marks the end of production for the Aero SuperSports and Coupe models with production starting on the soft top model towards the end of the year. There will be the option of a hardtop, should you wish to keep the Coupe profile – the new model will feature a mohair soft top hood that retracts into rear opening clam shell boot.  With the roof down the new model from above takes on the boat deck profile.

Power will come from a Euro6 compliant BMW sourced V8 4.8-litre engine that develops 367 bhp /490 Nm. This equates to a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph. On the combined cycle fuel economy is recorded at 23 mpg and CO2 emissions are 282 g/km. Figures related to the 6-speed manual edition, the optional 6-speed automatic sees the top speed drop to 155 mph (4.5 seconds to 62 mph), combined consumption equals 26 mpg and emissions lower to 256 g/km.

The chassis remains aluminium but there is improved torsional stiffness, a revised front end, all new suspension, anti-roll bars and a new BMW limited slip differential which aids the driver experience. There is ABS (with EBD), power steering, cruise control and airbags but not a lot else, although can now specify a very unlike Morgan multi-media interface.

As all cars are built to the individual specification of the prospective owner, we would suggest that if you want one talk to your local dealer or Morgan direct.
