Orders more than double monthly sales target after only two weeks on sale
Tokyo - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced it had received 7,187 orders for its new Grandis minivan as of June 1, two weeks after the car went on sale on May 17.
This initial figure far exceeds the company's monthly sales target of 3,000 units, positioning the Grandis alongside the Colt compact car launched in November last year as the main driving force behind MMC's ongoing Turnaround.
"We had set an in-house target of receiving 7,000 orders by the end of the first month, so we're excited to achieve this two weeks ahead of schedule," said Eiji Iwakuni, head of domestic car sales and marketing at MMC. "We are very pleased with this positive reaction from our customers, which hints that the new Grandis will prove a major hit for Mitsubishi Motors."
The 2.4-liter Grandis comes in both 2WD and 4WD, with 65 percent
of customers opting for the 2WD. The best selling color in the 10-color
lineup is warm silver metallic, accounting for 30 percent of all
sales. Other popular colors include warm white pearl (28 percent)
and cool silver metallic (16 percent).
