MINI announces plans for Motor Show Live

MINI was the leading light at the Birmingham Motor Show two years ago as it set pulses racing with its spectacular ‘MINI Adventure Live!’ stunt show. This year, from 26 May – 6 June, MINI is delighted to present ‘MINI Open Air Theatre’, an all-new, jaw-dropping, gravity defying stunt show. The star of the show will, of course, be the new MINI Convertible that will go on sale in the UK this summer.

Trevor Houghton-Berry, general manager, MINI UK said: "I am proud that the spectacular stunt show MINI put on at the Birmingham Motor Show two years ago has been the inspiration for this year’s show becoming more interactive and exciting. We aim to top ‘MINI Adventure Live!’ with ‘MINI Open Air Theatre’ and are confident that our free of charge driving extravaganza will guarantee the great British public experience another great British MINI adventure."

Unlike other attractions at the Motor Show Live, ‘MINI Open Air Theatre’ will be complimentary to all ticket holders. The show will run every hour and each performance will be able to accommodate up to 1000 visitors. A special viewing area has been reserved for MINI owners who now number over 100,000 in the UK. Show organisers are hoping they do not all turn up at once.

UK debut for MINI Cooper S Convertible

The supercharged 170 bhp MINI Cooper S Convertible will make its UK debut at Motor Show Live as well as the freshly updated MINI model range. The MINI One Convertible and MINI Cooper Convertible will also make their first UK appearance at the show. All three models will show exactly what they are made of as they are put through their paces by Russ Swift and his stunt team in the ‘MINI Open Air Theatre’ show.

Russ commented: "Improving on ‘MINI Adventure Live!’ was a real challenge but we have devised a whole new show that is even more daring and exhilarating than the last one. Under no circumstances should MINI owners attempt to perform these stunts at home or in their local supermarket car parks."

This was the last media comment that Russ was prepared to give prior to the show. Russ and his team are currently perfecting their stunts at a highly secure, top secret training camp.
