MINI 5-door Hatch costs £600 more than the equivalent 3-door model
The MINI 5-door Hatch is set to be launched this autumn and will go on sale priced from £15,900 (£600 more than the equivalent 3-door model). It is the first time that a 5-door Hatch has been offered and promise all the dynamics of the 3-door model with the practicality of a 5-door.
The 5-doors come from a longer wheelbase which in turns increases rear legroom by 72mm, it also allows for a third rear seat. The headroom has increased by 16mm and elbow room by 61mm. The boot size has increased by 30 per cent when compared to the 3-door model, 278 litres and increase of 67 litres.
The 5-door Hatch has a foot print of 3,982mm long, 1,727mm wide and 1,425mm tall. This makes the MINI 5-door Hatch 161mm longer and 11mm taller than the 3-door MINI Hatch. The width remains unchanged. The wheelbase has been extended by 72mm to 2,567mm, while the track is identical to that of the 3-door model.
There will be the choice of four engines, a 3-cylinder petrol engine outputting 136hp can be found in the Cooper 5-door Hatch. The output of the 4-cylinder petrol engine in the MINI Cooper S 5-door Hatch is 192hp. The new MINI Cooper D 5-door Hatch is powered by an 116hp 3-cylinder diesel engine. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard across the engine range with the option a six-speed automatic transmission is available as an option on each engine.
