MG ZS Touring Car Takes On The Fast And Furious Snetterton Circuit
Published: 24th July 2002
On returning to the circuit Warren said: "We had a brilliant test at Snetterton and we were very encouraged by that. We’re still going to have to be on our toes when we get there and make sure the car is working as well as it can. The MG ZS was very good on the test day, and will not be carrying any weight so it’s all to play for. If we can qualify on the first couple of rows then we’re in with a shout of a good result. I’m looking forward to it!"
Anthony Reid was on the podium for the third time this year during the last rounds at Croft and looking to add more points this weekend he commented: "I think Snetterton will suit our new engine specification. Everyone has worked hard to continue improving the car, and Snetterton is going to allow us to stretch its legs. It’s a circuit we’ve tested at and I’m expecting some strong results for us there."
Team Atomic Kitten has picked up the momentum over the last few weeks, with a podium finish in the last rounds at Croft. A third place and an Independents Cup win for Colin Turkington in the Sprint Race secured valuable points for MG in the Manufacturers’ Championship. Looking forward to the next rounds, he said: "Snetterton was where I first drove the MG ZS, and I also completed the official test there. We went pretty well in the test and got the car set-up nicely. Hopefully, we can use this data to get a good result."
Team-mate Gareth Howell is more familiar with the Norfolk circuit, "I’ve never been out of the top three in the last five years I have raced at Snetterton," said Gareth: "It’s not an exciting circuit but I always seem to go well. I won in the Production Class last year. As we did the official test at Snetterton we’re not going to have to learn the circuit in the car, we can really work on the set-up."
Dick Bennetts, managing director, WSR added: "We're looking forward
to this weekend as we had a good test at Snetterton. Even though we ran
with no ballast weight in Warren's car, our 2002 engine which we ran for
the first time at Croft should help us. I’m also very pleased with
the progress of the WSR Team Atomic Kitten independents team."
