To a backdrop of dry ice and loud music, MG launched its dazzling new X-Power SV to the world at the British International Motor Show today, the first in a series of X-Power branded cars to be built by the marque.

Introduced by MG Rover director of product and design Peter Stevens, the high-performance 2+2 sports car boasts a top speed of 200 mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a staggering 4.2 seconds.

Expected to be a ‘must see’, the new vehicle, seen for the first time in the world at the show, is based on the concept X-80 car, unveiled at the motor show in 2000.

Peter Stevens said: “All MGs are about risk, excitement and driving pleasure, and the X-Power SV is an example of an extreme MG – it’s got great potential for both the road and the track."

The X-Power SV’s 4.6-litre V8 engine is capable of producing 326 bhp, which customers can have increased if desired. Prices will start from around £65,000.
