Unique 'Aston Villa Claret And Blue' Rover 25 Prize Draw Pushes NSPCC Fundraising Appeal To £78,000
Published: 1st May 2003
So far, over £78,000 has been raised to help local causes and the special claret and blue Rover 25 has been the focal point of nine months of campaigning and fund raising.
A significant part of the donation was raised by employees through the sale of tickets for the prize draw. Steve Hudson, MG Rover Group, quality director, accompanied by Aston Villa, finance director, Mark Ansell handed over the keys to the winner, Russell Poulsom from Somerset, Taunton.
Steve Hudson said "The money raised from the raffle ticket sales has surpassed all expectations and there has been a fantastic show of goodwill."
Mark Ansell said: "We have been tremendously encouraged by the enthusiasm shown for this campaign. At Aston Villa, the players and staff donated an hour of their pay towards the cause and this added another £8,500 to the overall total. I am delighted that, together with MG Rover Group, we have been able to make this project such an outstanding success."
The money raised will be used to help the NSPCC continue
its vital work protecting children and young people from abuse
and neglect. Janine Miller, corporate fundraising manager
at the NSPCC said: "We are absolutely thrilled at
the way employees at both MG Rover Group and Aston Villa have
taken our cause to their hearts and supported us over the
past nine months. Their donations help us to make a difference
to the lives of so many children within the local community."
