MG Team Spirit In Wales

Published: 19th August 2002
MG Rover Group employees Rob Stone and Tim Seipel will head for Wales this weekend to compete in their MG ZR’s as part of Team Spirit. The pair of MG ZR’s, a 1.4-litre Group N1 and 1.8-litre Group N3, will be challenging in the Mewla National Rally just south of Builth Wells.

The MG ZR 1.8, driven by Rob Stone, has been competing in the Pirelli British Rally Championship (PBRC) and recently secured a Group N class win for standard production vehicles in the Scottish Rally. On his decision to take part in the Mewla National Rally Rob explained: "This weekend is an ideal opportunity for us to complete shakedown and develop the car in preparation for the next round of the PBRC in Ulster next month. The car has shown huge potential and I’ll be challenging for a good result."

Meanwhile, work-colleague Tim Seipel will be competing on the same stages in his MG ZR105. Tim has recently competed in various rallies qualifying for the National Tarmacadam Rally Championship whilst developing the car with a view to completing the full championship next year. He commented: "We’ve had some good results in our outings so far. I’m pleased with the developments we’re making so I’m expecting good results this weekend."

The event takes place on Sunday August 25 starting from the Royal Welsh Showground at 0800 hours. The course covers 100 miles over a total of eight stages run on the infamous Epynt Military Ranges.
