Success in the showrooms

These Auto Express New Car Honours mark the end of a record six months of new car registrations for Mercedes-Benz. According to SMMT data, year to date (YTD) registrations for the period January-June were 47,088 units – an increase of 16.6 per cent in an otherwise stagnant new car market.

Once again, the registration success was shared across the model range, with record six month performances for the C-Class Saloon, the CLK-Class Coupé, the SL-Class Roadster and sector-leading results for C-Class Sports Coupé and E-Class Saloon ranges. More success was recorded in the high-performance Mercedes-AMG range, with 693 new cars registered.

Dermot Kelly, Managing Director Mercedes Car Group, commented: "It's a privilege for Mercedes-Benz to be awarded three Auto Express Honours in sectors where competition is especially tough at the moment. To receive 16 accolades in the first half of the year is a huge endorsement for the quality and breadth of our model range.

"But industry awards are only relevant if the people that we serve - our customers - are buying our cars, and it's clear to see they are, and in greater numbers than ever before. These unparalleled results are because of the hard work of everyone in our retailer network, and the good sense of Mercedes-Benz drivers."

With such a strong start to 2003 behind it, the rest of the year is looking promising for Mercedes-Benz and its customers.
