Mercedes have introduced two new models that will join the SLS AMG line-up.
The SLS AMG GT Coupe from £165,030
The V8 6.3 litre normally aspirated AMG engine will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds going on to a top speed of 199 mph, with an official combined fuel figure 21.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of 308 g/km. The new SLS AMG GT outputs 591 hp / 650 Nm of torque coupled to AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission with and redeveloped AMG Ride Control Performance suspension.
On outside there are 19 inch front and 20 inch rear AMG alloy wheels with the choice of five or 10 twin-spoke designs in titanium grey or in a 10-spoke bi-colour design; AMG carbon-fibre exterior mirrors; AMG trim in high-gloss black; red brake calipers; darkened headlamps and rear lights with a black surround; and AMG GT lettering on the boot lid.
On the inside the SLS AMG GT features an AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather and Alcantara with 12-o’clock mark and red contrast stitching; designo Exclusive leather in black with red contrast stitching in either single-tone or two-tone; AMG floor mats with red edging; red seat belts; and Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG, including 11 high-performance speakers.
The SLS AMG Black Series Coupe from £229,985
As with the SLS AMG GT the AMG Black Series it features a V8 6.3 litre AMG engine outputting in this case 631 hp with 635 Nm of torque which equates a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds .
To aid the performance the AMG Black Series has been reduced in weight by 70 kg over then standard SLS AMG. The “AMG Lightweight Performance” strategy includes a number body elements such as the bonnet, the rear panel behind the AMG sports bucket seats, the diagonal braces on the under body, and the torque tube between engine and transmission, made entirely of motorsport-grade carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. In contrast to its 26.6 kg counterpart with sand-cast aluminium housing, the carbon-fibre torque tube weighs now just 13.3 kg.
It features AMG Ride Control Performance suspension, with ceramic brakes, wider flared wings (increased in width by 26 mm at the front and 52 mm at the rear), a new AMG titanium sports exhaust system, and the electronically controlled AMG rear-axle differential lock.
The AMG Black Series rides on 19”/20” AMG five twin-spoke forged bi-colour alloys. There is a carbon-fibre front splitter and flicks on the front apron; and carbon-fibre rear aerofoil and diffuser with two chrome twin exhaust pipes.
The interior features AMG sports bucket seats in designo black leather and Alcantara, with upholstery across the dashboard, console sides and door panels in a mix of nappa leather and Alcantara. Additionally, the interior benefits from AMG carbon-fibre trim, COMAND system with AMG Performance Media, and the AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara with a red 12-o’clock markPublished 22 April 2013
