Mercedes will premier the new S 63 AMG Coupe at the New York International Auto Show in April 2014, with a UK launch toward the end of the year.
The new Mercedes Benz S 63 AMG Coupe is powered by a hand built AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine outputting 585 hp / 900 Nm of torque. This will take the S 63 from rest to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds and then on to a limited top speed of 155 mph. Official NEDC combined fuel figures, record the consumption at 27.9 mpg and CO2 emissions of 237 g/km.
The 63 AMG Coupe utilises the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission which allows drivers to configure their own personal set-up, depending on their driving style. There are three modes to choose from: "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport) and "M" (Manual). The ECO start/stop function is fitted as standard.
Mercedes Benz S 63 AMG Coupe features the MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension system which incorporates ROAD SURFACE SCAN and Active Body Control (ABC). The ROAD SURFACE SCAN technology can detect surface undulations in advance with the help of a stereo camera, and then the MAGIC BODY CONTROL adjusts the suspension in advance to suit the state of the road surface. The driver can select suspension modes – "Comfort" and "Sport". The MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension system also features a curve tilting function that allows the S 63 AMG Coupe to lean into the bends as a motorcyclists would do, the aim of the system is to enhance occupant comfort. It rides on 8.5 x 19 wheels at the front and 9.5 x 19 at the rear, with 255/45 R 19 and 285/40 R 19 tyres respectively- you can opt for fade-resistant AMG high-performance composite braking system.
