Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Build Quality

One word sums up the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class's build quality - Superb!

The craftsmanship & quality of materials is very high and absolutely in keeping with a car of this class. The E-Class will prove durable and dependable clocking up high miles without any complaints.

Value For Money

At £ 31,497.77 OTR the E-Class Avantgarde is competitively priced within the premium saloon car market which includes the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar S-TYPE. The entry level Classic model is excellent value for money at £ 26,560 OTR and features an impressive level of standard equipment. However, when you start choosing from the extensive options list you may have to be careful depending on your budget.

Mercedes-Benz's 3-Year unlimited mileage warranty is excellent and MobiloLife is their guarantee to keep you mobile for up to 30 years. Renewed after each service performed by a Mercedes-Benz authorised repairer and remains valid until the next service is due.

Depreciation is not usually a word that affects Mercedes-Benz however, estates are more popular than saloons on the second-hand market and highly specified cars are more desirable. Having said that some of the options are expensive and you may not see a huge return in the long term.

Overall Opinion

With the new E-Class Mercedes-Benz have created the ultimate saloon car and it certainly exceeded our expectations.

Both the performance and fuel economy are superb and the handling is excellent. The optional AirMATIC Dual Control semi-active air suspension is fantastic and although it might seem expensive at £1240 it is in our opinion worth every penny.

This car is exceptional, the ride is composed and it feels reassuringly stable at speed. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class combines the attributes of a limousine and sports saloon in one package.

It also raises the question: why would you want a petrol car when you can have the economy of a diesel combined with the performance of petrol car?
