Mercedes-Benz A-Class
Build Quality
Build quality has been vastly improved over the original model and one word sums up the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class' build quality - Superb!
The craftsmanship & quality of materials is very high and absolutely in keeping with a car of this class. We don't doubt that the new A-Class will prove durable and dependable.
Value For Money
The A150 Classic SE costs £13,955 OTR and is cheaper than the original A140 Classic which cost £14,275 (price correct in 1998) and it features an impressive level of standard equipment. However, when you start choosing from the extensive options list you may have to be careful depending on your budget.
The A-Class benefits from variable service intervals, which are dependent on how the car has been driven and the conditions it has faced. The A-Class is protected with a three-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard plus mobilo-life, which supports the car with a 30-year anti-corrosion cover and breakdown warranty.
Overall Opinion
Mercedes have done an excellent job in reinventing the A-Class and in doing so have created a class leading product. The new A-Class feels a more complete car and although it has lost its initial cute appeal it is now a grown up sensible proposition at the premium end of the market. The ride and handling are superb and with a choice of 3 & 5-door models, diesel & petrol engines and choice of trim levels there is now an A-Class to suit everyone.
The A-Class has come of age - it is head and shoulders above the out going model and has evolved into the car it always should have been.
