The Improved Mazda MPV

Published: 30th November 2003
On the road, the MPV’s robust chassis system features a front MacPherson strut front suspension and a rear torsion beam suspension system which insures stability and control in even the most demanding driving situations.

The improved Mazda MPV has been designed to protect its occupants in all possible crash scenarios, improving on the already excellent safety package. An upgraded brake system featuring new 286 mm ventilated disc brakes at the rear of the vehicle, replaces the previous drum set up. With ventilated discs all around, the improved Mazda MPV boasts improved pedal feel and a substantially shorter stopping distance.

A Traction Control System (TCS) is added to the diesel powertrain and is now available as standard on both models, allowing for easier standing starts on slippery surfaces.

The Mazda MPV has a host of standard active and passive safety features including: the Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS) with triple-H construction and robust side impact protection, four airbags (driver, front passenger and first row side airbags), seatbelt pretensioners in the front, height adjustable headrests on all seats and ISOFIX child seat anchorage on the outer second row seats with top tether mounting points. An Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is also fitted as standard.
