Natasha Firman Takes Formula Woman Championship Title

Round Seven
The finishing order for Round Six dictated the start order for the final race, meaning Pinner’s win earlier in the day would put her on pole, with Tyler alongside and Firman immediately behind in third. All three got away cleanly, but further back Catherine Gard spun off at Paddock Hill Bend, bringing out the yellow flags and the safety car for two laps.
When the safety car returned to the pits, Pinner and Tyler quickly started to pull away from the rest of the field, and in lap 14 Pinner recorded the fastest lap of the race. The double points system meant that, if Pinner won and took fastest lap (giving her an additional two points), Firman would have to finish at least in third place to take the Championship crown. Firman was coming under increasing pressure from Thurston for third and this suddenly opened up the possibility of Pinner stealing the Championship from under Firman’s nose.
Despite nearly losing it at the McLaren bend, Firman ultimately held off Thurston and came home in third place, just enough to secure the Championship. Pinner managed her third win of the series – one more than even Firman could manage – while Tyler repeated her round six result with an impressive second place.
