MX 5 1.8i Sport
Ease of Use
The MX-5 is a very easy car to drive and compared to most modern cars it is very basic with limited gadgetry to get to grips with. However, its relative ease of use could lead to an inexperienced driver getting carried away without any electronic safety systems to assist them.
Getting used to the 6-speed gear box took a little time and reverse gear can be awkward - this has been deliberately engineered by Mazda to stop you selecting reverse gear at speed.
Parking and manoeuvring the MX-5 couldn't be more simple, with the roof down visibility is superb although, with the roof up it is a little difficult to see through the rear quarter lights and rear window.
Everything is simply laid out within the cabin and due to its large doors it is surprisingly easy to get in and out of for such a low car.
Safety and Security
The following safety & security equipment is standard on the MX-5 1.8i Sport:
Alarm Thatcham category, Anti-lock brake system (ABS), Dual front airbags, Electronic brake force distribution (EBD), Immobiliser system, ISOFIX child seat anchorages (passenger side), Limited slip differential (standard on the 1.8i Sport), Passenger airbag cancellation system, Seat belts: 3 point (ELR) x 2 with pre-tensioners and force limiter, Side impact door beams and Suspension strut tower bar (standard on the 1.8i sport).
