Another Special Winner From Mazda
Published: 28th June 2002
The Mazda MX-5 has sold in excess of 600,000 Worldwide in the 13 years since introduction; it has outsold other popular sports cars and has been credited with being the car that re-ignited interest in the affordable sports car segment, leading to many manufacturers copying the classical design and layout of the Mazda MX-5.
Popular for its looks and driving dynamics the Mazda MX-5 brought fun back into motoring, no longer were motorists enclosed in a tin box, there was the freedom to throw off the roof and enjoy the sunshine, suddenly motoring became more than an ability to get from A to B and owners of MX-5s started driving just for fun, an emotion long forgotten.
The Mazda MX-5 Arizona is the latest in a long line of very popular special editions that are sufficiently different enough to make them highly prized vehicles.
Only 1,000 will be available in the UK, offered with either the excellent 1.6 or spirited 1.8-litre engine and a choice of either Sunlight Silver metallic, Blaze Yellow mica or Eternal Red the Mazda MX-5 Arizona is set to be a much sought after vehicle.
The Mazda MX-5 Arizona 1.6 gets a high specification list which includes
unique 15" alloy wheels, stainless steel scuff plates, aluminium
centre console and meter trim, remote central door locking with boot release,
black leather Nardi steering wheel with silver stitching, black leather
gear knob and handbrake lever with silver stitching, electric mirrors,
style bars and windbreak, electric aerial, black leather heated seats
with silver stitching and CD player. The 1.8 gets the same specification
with the addition of a Torsen LSD (Limited Slip Differential).
