Fleets Benefit As Mazda Dealers Have Lowest UK Labour Rates

Published: 5th June 2003
This year Mazda has seen its UK sales increase 43.5% and fleet sales are up 130% on the strength of value-for-money vehicles led by the Mazda6 and ultra-competitive wholelife costs.

It is that winning combination which has helped the manufacturer collect a string of industry awards including Best User-Chooser Car in the 2003 Fleet World Honours and the Best Upper Medium Car title at the annual Fleet News awards.

Jeremy Thomson, Mazda’s fleet and remarketing director, said: ‘The Warranty Direct survey underlines what many fleet operators have already discovered and that is the value for money which Mazda offers.

‘In terms of both list price and benefit-in-kind tax Mazda is redefining what constitutes value for money for both fleet operators and company car drivers. Now, Warranty Direct’s independent survey adds to our argument that fleets can reduce operating costs by choosing Mazda ahead of any other manufacturer.

‘Fleet operating costs are continually under the corporate microscope and this survey shows that not only does Mazda have the lowest labour rate out of 30 manufacturers surveyed, but our rates have only marginally increased in five years.

‘It is ironic that as new car prices have tumbled, labour rates at many manufacturers have rocketed. I’m delighted that such an accusation cannot be laid at Mazda’s door.

‘Instead we are actively working with our franchised dealers to win new business both locally and nationally and that is reflected in our 2003 sales figures. By adopting this policy and offering a quality service both showroom and workshop business will increase for our franchised dealers.’
