Mazda has released pricing and insurance groups for the Mazda6 estate and diesel versions set to go on sale 1 September. Once again Mazda is competitive and compelling on price and leads the class in insurance grouping for the family car market.
Both the diesel and estate will offer the outstanding driving dynamics already seen in the petrol version of the Mazda6 through the completely new platform developed specifically for this car. Coupled to a suspension set-up designed to give the car best in class handling the Mazda6 really does lead the class in driving dynamics. Both the diesel and estate version will retain the other class leading attributes of the Mazda6, such as load capacity, braking, interior space, stylish design, craftsmanship and the unique Karakuri seat function.
Not only will the Mazda6 diesel offer class leading handling and driving dynamics, it will also be a frugal performer with excellent fuel economy and a refinement that has consigned diesel noise to the past.
For the entry-level Mazda6 S with the 121ps common-rail diesel the insurance group is 7E, at least a group below almost every other car in the segment. For the Mazda6 TS and TS2 with both engine variants the insurance only jumps one group to 8E which is significantly lower than other comparable cars in this segment and the Mazda6 Diesel Sport is just 9E, again a group that is considerably lower than the competition.
Pricing for the diesel is also extremely attractive starting at just £14,595 on the road for the five-door Mazda6 S Diesel powered by the 121ps common-rail diesel, rising to £18,595 for the 136ps engine in Sport trim in the four and five-door and in TS2 trim on the estate.
The 136ps Mazda MZR-CD common-rail diesel will be available in all three body styles in TS and TS2 trim, with the Sport trim only available as a diesel in four and five door. The 121ps diesel will only be available in the five-door and estate models in S trim in addition to the TS and TS2 on the five-door.
The Mazda6 estate is available in S, TS and TS2 trim powered by either the 2.0-litre petrol MZR 141ps engine or the 2.0-litre 121ps and 136ps common-rail diesels. Prices start at £14,995 on the road for the Mazda6 2.0 Estate S, rising to £18,595 for the Mazda6 2.0 Estate TS2 Diesel. The Mazda6 Sport4 Estate AWD will join the line-up in November.Published 17 July 2002
