Mazda6
Rivals
- Ford Mondeo
- Honda Accord
- Vauxhall Insignia
- Volkswagen Passat
What We Liked
- Exterior / interior styling
- 2.2 litre diesel engine
- Handling
- RVM - Rear Vehicle Monitoring
- What We Disliked
- Road Noise
What We'd like To See
- Reduction in road noise
- It would be nice to see Satellite Navigation as standard on the top of the range car
Build Quality
Mazda have made a rather good job of screwing the Mazda6 together; the materials are first rate for a car of this class.
Value for Money
It is a very competitive market - the Mazda6 is a little cheaper than its arch rival the Honda Accord, which offers a slightly better specification but a less powerful engine.
Summary
It is a tough market for the Mazda6, especially when you consider the competition, Ford's Mondeo and Vauxhall's excellent Insignia lead the way. The Mazda '6' is more of a niche car and has a devoted and loyal fan base. We liked it and it would be a very difficult decision as to which car we would buy as they are all excellent in their own right but the Mazda6 does have a rather good diesel engine under the bonnet - so it is worth taking a careful look at them all.
