How It Looks - Interior

Normally we are not too keen on Japanese interior design, preferring the more clinical Germanic and Scandinavian styling - but the RX-8 is an exception to our rule.

There are some great design touches such as the impressive instrument panel featuring a 3-sectioned cluster with a large central tachometer and digital speedometer. The black interior plastics are of a good quality and are enhanced with stylish aluminium finishes.

The central rev counter dominates the instrument cluster with two smaller intersecting circles housing the oil, water temperature, and fuel gauges. The rev counter's hand rests at the six o'clock position, with 8,000 rpm at the twelve o'clock position and the red line cutting in at one o'clock. The speed is relayed digitally which is easy to read.
