Mazda Bodyshops Get A New Lick Of Paint

Mazda3

Mazda Motors UK Ltd has signed agreements with selected paint suppliers for its Approved Bodyshops in the automotive aftermarket throughout the Mazda dealer network.

The agreements are effective from 8 August 2005. The use of one of three paint systems for warranty work is mandated across all Mazda Approved Bodyshops throughout the UK.

The selection process provided Mazda with the opportunity to review several candidate paint suppliers. As preferred partners, whose products are now exclusively approved for warranty repairs, Mazda has selected three brands from two manufacturers - Sikkens (Akzo Nobel), DuPont Refinish and Spies Hecker (both DPC-owned). The parent companies will provide a number of forms of support for the Mazda Approved Bodyshop Programme.

Steve Jelliss, Aftersales Director of Mazda commented: "We believe paint manufacturers have a significant part to play in the development of Mazda’s Approved Bodyshop network in the UK, with Akzo Nobel and DuPont Coatings becoming key partners for us."

"This is a very exciting development for Akzo Nobel, which will enable us to offer the benefits of the Sikkens proposition to Mazda repairers," commented Philip James, Managing Director Akzo Nobel CR Ltd.

David Hayes, OEM Aftermarket Approvals Manager DuPont Coatings added: "It is encouraging to see growing manufacturers such as Mazda investing much more into the aftermarket area. We are particularly pleased to join forces with Mazda UK on the Approved Bodyshop project in a bid to improve standards in the aftermarket industry."

Steve Jelliss, Aftersales Director of Mazda UK explained: "Mazda has also appointed an independent agency with considerable experience in the field, Oxford Automotive Group. The principal objective of this change is to add more value to participation in the Approved Bodyshop Programme including the maximisation of referral work from insurance companies. Additionally we are working to further raise the standards of our Approved Bodyshop network."

There are 163 Mazda franchised dealers and authorised repairers in the UK currently operating with a network of 152 bodyshops.
