The New Lotus Elite

Not since 1982 have we seen a new Lotus Elite on our roads, but this is all set to change in 2014 when Lotus will launch the new Lotus Elite 2+2 Coupe.

This time it is set to feature a front/mid 5.0 litre V8 engine layout, delivering up to 620 PS which is enough to propel the new Lotus Elite from 0-62 mph in around 3.5 seconds. There is speculation that there will be a hybrid model based on the engine/transmission from the Lexus 600h. And that the roof will be either fixed or retractable.

Although the image above is a mock up of the prototype, we can already see how stunning the new Elite to set to be, albeit a little Aston Martin meets Ferrari come Renault Laguna Coupe.

More news on the Lotus Elite hopefully later in the month as more is revealed at the Paris Motor Show.
