Euro NCAP drew attention to the side barrier impact test - where the Lexus CT 200h received maximum points - as well as the good levels of protection offered by front passenger and driver knee airbags, and the high level of protection against whiplash injuries.

Thanks to Lexus's second generation whiplash injury lessening (WIL) seat technology the Lexus CT 200h received an outstanding result in rear impact protection testing. The front WIL seats are designed to sit as close as possible to the occupant;s head in normal use. In the event of an impact, the torso will shrink into the seat, closing the hap between head and headrest therefore reducing the risk of whiplash.

In the pedestrian protection category, the front bumper scored maximum points, while the child occupant tests showed good results for 18 month and three year old children.

The Lexus CT 200h features a highly rigid, impact absorbing bodyshell as well as a range of active, passive and pedestrian impact features, providing strong safety performance in all driving scenarios.

As an optional specification, the Lexus CT 200h can be fitted with a Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) system. The technology can detect a potential collision and primes seatbelts and emergency braking, in order to reduce the risk of both injury and damage. If the system calculates that an impact is unavoidable, the brakes are automatically applied. The millimetre-wave radar system used by the PCS is also utilised by the Adaptive Cruise Control.

Other features of the Lexus CT 200h include an upgraded Electronically Controlled Braking-Regeneration (ECB-R) system incorporating ABS, Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
