The Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS)
The Pre-Crash System scans the road ahead using a millimetre-wave radar sensor to looking for obstacles in the car’s path, even when cornering. Using a number of sensors, a pre-collision computer monitors vehicle speed, steering angle and yaw rate inputs to help determine in advance whether an impending collision is imminent.
If it feels there is a high risk of a collision it will alert the driver, activate the Pre-Crash Seatbelt pre-tensioners, and, when the driver begins to brake, provide Pre-Crash Brake Assist to supplement the braking effort. If the driver does not brake and a collision becomes inevitable, the Pre-Crash Brake will automatically apply the brakes to reduce impact speed.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Adaptive Cruise Control works like normal cruise control by keeping the car at a constant speed automatically – the adaptive part utilizes a PCS millimetre-wave radar sensor to match the car to the speed of the car in front, so if it slows down, so do you automatically – if the car moves out the way you will accelerate automatically back to the speed you have set.
Lane Departure Assist (LDA)
Lane Departure Assist monitors road markings, utilizing a camera on the back of the rear-view mirror. If the car drifts out of lane without the use of the indicators it alerts the driver with by audio and visual warning.
Automatic High Beam (AHB)
Automatically switches between dipped and full-beam at night when it detects the lights of an on-coming car.Published 14 June 2013
