Land Rover has introduced some new tech for the Range Rover and Sport model, which includes the option of Head-Up Display (HUD), All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) and the 3.0-litre engine has been revised.

Range Rover Head-Up Display (HUD) - £1,000 option

Available on both the Range Rover and Sport models you can now specify Head-Up Display (HUD) for an extra £1,000. It projects key data onto the windscreen including vehicle speed, gear position and shift indicator, cruise-control information, satellite-navigation instructions and Traffic-Sign Recognition.

Range Rover All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) - £175 option

Again available on both the Range Rover and Sport models (Range Rover TDV6, Range Rover Sport SDV6 (not including SDV6 Hybrid) and all V8 Supercharged derivatives when specified with dual-range transmission and Terrain Response 2.

We are currently testing the Range Rover Sport for a future road test and this is one feature we thought it was missing – the ability to set your desired speed – off-road/on-road and letting the terrain response system take care of the rest without any pedal input. Now you can with ATPC working in both forward and reverse gears and is operational from 1 mph to 19 mph – prefect for climbing steep gradients at a constant speed.

Range Rover 3.0-litre Diesel Revisions

The Range Rover 3.0-litre Diesel engine has been revised in both TDV6 and SDV6 guises.

The Range Rover TDV6 unit now adopts a ball-bearing single turbocharger rather than then twin-turbocharging technology. It also gains a Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LPEGR), a two-stage oil pump that reduces parasitic engine losses and a revised design of fuel-injector nozzle. It still outputs 258PS / 600Nm with the benefit of an 8.5% per cent increase in fuel efficiency.

Where the Range Rover Sport SDV6 models retain parallel-sequential turbocharging, but detail calibration changes increase performance to 306PS / 700Nm (an increase of 14PS and 100Nm).  LPEGR, a two-stage oil pump and revised fuel-injector nozzles also increase fuel efficiency. The result is a 7.0% improvement in fuel efficiency at 40.4mpg and Co2 emissions of 185g/km.
