speeds up to 30 mph for a distance of around 1 mile
Land Rover has announced the introduction of the Range Rover Diesel Hybrid (and the Range Rover Sport Hybrid).
The Range Rover Hybrid order books will open on the 10th September 2013 with the first deliveries expected in early 2014.
Range Rover Hybrid Engine
The Range Rover Hybrid is powered by Land Rover’s 3-litre SDV6 diesel engine with a 35kW electric motor integrated with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The hybrid system, including lithium ion battery pack, inverter and electric motor weighs less than 120kg.
The electric motor produces 170Nm torque to boost acceleration and drives the vehicle when in pure EV Mode, where it can propel it along at speeds up to 30 mph for a distance of around 1 mile.
When combined with the diesel motor it produces 340PS at 4,000rpm and delivers 700Nm torque between 1,500-3,000rpm, resulting in near SDV8-style performance.
Acceleration is 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 135 mph – combined CO2 emissions are 169 g/km and on the official combined cycle 44.1 mpg has been recorded.
There is no impact on cargo space with the liquid cooled battery pack is mounted beneath the floor of the vehicle in a protective boron-steel cradle.
And of course the Range Rover Hybrid retains its four-wheel drive system including Terrain Response2, with the same wading and ground clearance.
