The Jaguar Land Rover Academy has been short-listed for a Personnel Today Award 2004 for its new online human resources and people management guide, ‘People Solutions’.
The Academy, which manages the development of 9,000 people employed in its UK network of 230 franchise Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships, has reached the final of the hotly contested ‘Award for Excellence in HR through Technology’ category, where ‘People Solutions’ faces competition from initiatives by BUPA, DEFRA and Shell People Services.
‘People Solutions’ was created following detailed research across both brands to identify the development needs of managers. It was piloted in six dealerships to huge acclaim, thanks to its creative, engaging and tactically innovative design and content. When launched nationally, it will give managers in the UK network access to a comprehensive people management guide, written in a user-friendly style providing advice on day-to-day work issues in line with employment legislation. It covers every topic from recruitment to retirement, presented in nine logical sections and supported by latest news items, frequently asked questions and articles on current issues.
Programme Manager, Alice Jones had a vision to create a simple but innovative and unique system that would revolutionise the way managers access up to date people management information. She said: "We brought together a team of experts to design this leading-edge system, which will deliver innumerable benefits to the business, saving managers time and money whilst increasing their confidence in managing people effectively. I am convinced it will have a positive impact on the working lives of the managers within the dealer network improving morale, motivation and commitment to the brands."
Kevin Beadle, Director of the Jaguar Land Rover Academy sees this initiative as an important step forward in supporting managers in the dealership to forge rewarding careers that are tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. He states: "We believe Jaguar and Land Rover offer people in the network industry-leading opportunities for development and progression, and are confident that People Solutions will ensure that the Jaguar and Land Rover dealer networks attract, retain and motivate high quality people and is seen as an employer of choice."
