Jaguar & Land Rover Academy has scooped the ‘Award for Excellence in HR through Technology’ at this year's prestigious Personnel Today Awards for its new online human resources and people management guide, ‘People Solutions’.
The Academy, which manages the development of 9,000 people employed in its UK network of 230 franchise Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships, beat off competition from initiatives by BUPA, DEFRA and Shell People Services in this hotly contested category.
This success also saw the team through to the prestigious finale, where they were named runners up in the celebrated ‘Winner of Winners’ category, an award recognising the overall winner from each of the 13 categories.
Kevin Beadle, Director of the Jaguar & Land Rover Academy, accepted the award from television comedian Graham Norton at the ceremony held in London’s Grosvenor House. He said: "This is a fantastic award that reflects the hard work and dedication of all those involved in creating this innovative people management tool. We believe Jaguar and Land Rover offer people in our UK dealer networks industry-leading opportunities for development and progression, and are confident that ‘People Solutions’ will ensure that the Jaguar and Land Rover dealer networks attract, retain and motivate high quality people and are seen as employers of choice."
'People Solutions' was created following detailed research across both brands to identify the development needs of managers. It was piloted in six dealerships to huge acclaim, thanks to its creative, engaging and tactically innovative design and content. Now launched nationally, it will give managers in the UK network access to a comprehensive people management guide, written in a user-friendly style providing advice on day-to-day work issues in line with employment legislation. It covers every topic from recruitment to retirement, presented in nine logical sections and supported by latest news items, frequently asked questions and articles on current issues.
Academy Manager, Alice Jones had a vision to create a simple but innovative and unique system that would revolutionise the way managers access up to date people management information. She said: "We brought together a team of experts to design this leading-edge system, which will deliver innumerable benefits to the business, saving managers time and money whilst increasing their confidence in managing people effectively. I am convinced it will have a positive impact on the working lives of the managers within the dealer network improving morale, motivation and commitment to the brands."
'People Solutions' is now live throughout both UK dealer networks.Published 1 December 2004
