Land Rover Freelander Review
Over the last 55 years, the Land Rover range of vehicles has evolved to become a byword for toughness, durability, comfort and elegant style. Year by year, Land Rover models have redefined the world´s 4x4 categories.
Launched in the UK in 1997 the Land Rover Freelander redefined its sector of the market - in much the same way as the launch of Discovery had taken the large leisure sector by storm. Within a year, Freelander sales more than doubled and it became the biggest selling 4x4 in the UK.
In 2004 the Freelander was comprehensively improved and upgraded - changes include a new interior and major external revisions, including a new face and rear.
The 3-door model is available in E, S, SE, Sport and Sport Premium trim and the 5-door model is available in E, S, SE, HSE, Sport and Sport Premium trim. The engine line up includes a 1.8 petrol, 2.5 V6 petrol and 2.0 TD4 diesel.
Prices range from £15,995 for the Freelander E 1.8 3-door to £26,595 for the range topping Freelander Sport Premium V6 5-door.
It was holiday time again and we needed a vehicle to take us around Scotland, with all our gear for the week. We thought long and hard about what vehicle would fit the bill and settled on a 5-door Land Rover Freelander TD4 (Diesel) SE - five speed manual. In seven days we covered 2292 miles in the Freelander read on to see how we got on.
