Build Quality
The Sorento has been built to a good standard and is a testament to how far Kia have come in their quest for mainstream acceptance.
The interior is the only place that slightly lacks and as previously stated 'the interior is functional and ergonomic but the plastics are a bit cheap looking and the wood grain effect trim is not in keeping with a vehicle of this quality.
Having said that the Sorento is very competitively priced within the 4x4 segment and if Kia adopt the 5-year warranty of its parent company Hyundai it can only build on what is sure to be a best seller for Kia.Value For Money
The Sorento 3.5 V6 XS is phenomenal value for money with a comprehensive standard specification combined with a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty. However, we will have to wait and see how the Sorento fares in respect of depreciation.
Overall Opinion
The Sorento did not disappoint us on our road test we covered approximately 2000 miles in 8 days and it performed faultlessly. It was reassuring both on and off road and the 3.5 V6 engine was superb. The Sorento manages to straddle the divide between premium 'off-roader' and workhorse.
The 4x4 market is pretty overcrowded so why should the Sorento stand out? Because it offers genuine value for money, real 4x4 ability and striking good looks backed up with Kia's 3-year unlimited mileage warranty. Kia are one of the UK fastest's growing brands and are certainly a company to watch.
