One of the biggest hits for one of the biggest bands of the eighties, ‘Rio’ is also a hit for four Duran Duran fans who will follow their idols across the UK on their sell-out tour.
To mark Duran Duran’s comeback tour and to fulfil the chance of a lifetime fans and friends: Alison Hughes-White (36, Birmingham), Karen Whittaker (35, Birmingham), Irene Turner (36, Isle of Wight) and Shruti Thakore (34, London) bought tickets to every one of their UK gigs and from 11 April can be spotted following the tour in a Silver Kia Rio, plated Rio LX.
Alison Hughes-White said: "We are huge fans of Duran Duran and because of the Kia Rio’s connection with one of their biggest hits we had our hearts set on following the tour in one so we approached Kia who kindly agreed to support us. The Rio is also reliable, economical and spacious accommodating all four of us plus luggage."
The four friends met online in the Duran Duran fanclub (www.duranduran.co.uk ) and between them have attended every UK gig as well as travelled to the USA to watch them play.
In addition to supporting Alison and friends, Kia is also running a national advertising campaign under the heading ‘Her name is Rio and she’s under seven grand’ which promotes the current £1,000 cash back offer. Competitions offering listeners the chance to win a Rio will also run on a selection of regional radio stations while dealerships across the country will be holding 80s nights to celebrate the introduction of CD players as standard across the range.Published 10 April 2004
