Record Sales Month For Kia Motors UK
Published: 10th October 2002
Kia Motors UK achieved a record sales month in September, with 2,817 new cars registered. The result is 23% higher than the previous best ever sales month for Kia, which happens to be September last year. As a result, Kia have extended their market share from 0.48% at the start of September to 0.65% at the end of the month, and points to the direction in which Kia intends to grow in the UK market during the forthcoming months and years.
C K Lee, President, Kia Motors (UK) Ltd, commented: "The tremendous result is a credit to Kia Motors UK and the dealer network. Following a transition period with a change of ownership for Kia in the UK, we have pulled out the stops to get ourselves back on track. Our job now is to extend this result and continue our revitalisation. Kia is thinking big in the UK!"
Also during September, the Kia Sedona was the best selling large MPV
in the UK private retail market and second best selling large MPV in the
overall market, ahead of Renault Espace, Seat Alhambra and Volkswagen
Sharan. Launched in July 1999 the Sedona has won three awards from motoring
magazines: Best Value Car in Top Gear Awards 2002, Best MPV in Auto Express
Used Car Honours 2002 and Best MPV in Diesel Car 2002 Awards.
