Kia Sportage XS Recall
Published: 6th April 2005
Kia Motors (UK) Ltd is in the process of issuing a recall on 974 UK Sportage XS vehicles produced up to 28 February 2005.
This is a response to a number of Electronic Stability Program (ESP) problems reported on the new Sportage XS. In the UK, only one customer vehicle has been affected and there was no resulting loss of control.
The precautionary work will upgrade the ESP control unit on all affected cars. This is a preventative measure that will ensure that the ESP is not activated when it is not required.
Customers affected will be contacted directly by Kia and advised to take their Sportage XS to their nearest authorised Kia dealer. In all cases the upgrade will be provided at no cost to the customer.
Customers requiring further information can contact the Kia helpline 0118 945 8545 or kiamotors@vehiclerecalls.co.uk
