Jeep Grand Cherokee Road Test

Jeep Grand Cherokee
What We Liked
- Exterior styling
- Off road ability
- Engine / Gearbox
- Performance
- Audio equipment & Satellite Navigation system
What We Disliked
- Wooden trim and some of the interior detailing
- Lack of real cabin space
What We'd Like To See
- Bi-Xenon headlights
Build Quality
The build quality is good but a few things weren't stuck on straight and a little bit more attention to detail wouldn't go amiss for the British market.
Value For Money
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is competitively priced against its chief rivals and features an impressive list of standard equipment. Jeep offer a 3-Year / 60,000 mile warranty but we would like to see an unlimited mileage warranty as offered by its DaimlerChrysler stablemate Mercedes-Benz.
Overall Opinion
A vast improvement over the previous model especially from the driver’s perspective. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is an enjoyable car to drive but it faces furious competition from the likes of Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is more about fulfilling a serious application than purely lifestyle or the school run. It is very accomplished off road, amongst the best and is a very capable tow car. For me it is too American and only really average on the road to be at the top of my list, but it is a credible choice.
