Safety and Security

The following safety and security equipment is standard on the Grand Cherokee 2.7 Limited XS:

Multi-stage airbags for the driver and front seat passenger and a curtain bag for all passengers. The Grand Cherokee features ventilated front disc brakes, with solid rear discs - backed up anti lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD). Central locking with remote operation, height adjustable front seatbelts, integral fog lights, locking fuel filler cap and locking wheel nuts.

The Grand Cherokee is fitted with a remote control Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser, which also locks the doors.

Comfort and Refinement

According to Jeep's press literature the Grand Cherokee is 'rugged, yet refined, practical, yet supremely appointed, Jeep vehicles take their owners to new heights of sophistication' and we couldn't agree more.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee's cabin is ergonomically laid out, simple and uncluttered. Head and leg room is excellent in the front although leg room is a little limited in the rear of the vehicle. The large interior space has ample cabin room for 4/5 adults and certainly a family of 5. The wide opening doors and high seating position make it particularly easy to get in and out of which would make it an ideal vehicle for people with mobility problems.

Sat inside the Grand Cherokee we felt at home, the leather electric front seats could be better described as armchairs, rather than just car seats. Both the driver and front passenger seats are 10 way electrically adjustable and heated, with two memory positions on the drivers. Oddly the memory function only retains the memory of driver’s mirrors, and not the passenger side mirror. The mirrors are powered to fold flat to the car, ideal for garages or passing through narrow gaps.

Infa red dual zone climate control air-conditioning is standard on the Limited XS model and our test car featured an electric sunroof which was a £900 option.

The level of refinement is high and includes: cruise control, 2 cup holders in the front and rear, easy exit drivers seat, electric windows front and rear, cargo area lights, front centre armrest with storage bin, front door panels with map pockets, illuminated door entry system, illuminated vanity mirrors, steering wheel mounted audio controls and height adjustable steering column.

How It Looks -

The exterior of the Grand Cherokee is best described as purposeful and functional - it means business. We liked the exterior styling - it is a design classic which works well and in our opinion is more attractive than the Land Rover Discovery2 Review.
