The head-turning appeal of the rugged Jeep Wrangler will be enhanced even further with the introduction of a new model, the Sport TR2.
The car, which has been timed to coincide with the release of the film "Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life", will have a limited run of just 75 cars. In the film actress Angelina Jolie drives a modified Jeep Wrangler.
Great looks, the "go-anywhere" Jeep attitude and the addition of extra equipment should make the new Wrangler Sport TR2 a blockbuster success, just like its big screen partner.
Based on the popular Wrangler 4.0 Sport, the limited edition Sport TR2 gains special Ecco wheels and 225 75/R15 tyres, a CD player with seven speakers and metallic paint (Intense Blue or Light Khaki). The car is priced at £16,750 on the road.
The 6-cylinder 3690cc engine delivers 174 bhp (130kW) of power and 218 lb.ft (296 Nm) of torque for a blend of lively performance, rugged power and impressive fuel consumption. The 4x4 accelerates from 0-62 mph in 9.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 108 mph. It is capable of 21.4 mpg on the combined cycle.
Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler and Jeep in the UK said: "Wrangler perfectly sums up the Jeep brand – rugged, reliable, dependable, and the addition of the extra equipment that makes the Sport TR2 will only add to its appeal.
"It’s fitting that a car like Wrangler should feature in an adventure film and I’m delighted we are able to offer this model which links with "Tomb Raider".
As with all Jeep models, the Wrangler Sport TR2 comes with a full peace-of-mind warranty package and European roadside assistance cover for three years/60,000-miles plus a seven years' unlimited mileage anti-corrosion guarantee.Published 4 August 2003
