Jeep® Wrangler 2002
Published: 1st December 2002
Safety
The new Wrangler features high levels of occupant safety with driver and front seat passenger airbags as standard, together with height adjustable front seat belts. Both rear seats have full three-point safety harnesses. A third, high level, rear brake lamp has also been added to the package.
As well as airbags for driver and passenger, all Wranglers are protected against theft by a remote control vehicle immobiliser. Standard features on Sport models include the soft top with removable "soft" side and rear windows, high power radio/cassette with removable face for added security, an auxiliary power outlet socket, black wheelarch mouldings, locking tailgate mounted spare wheel and "Jeep" spare wheel cover. Seats are covered with Pueblo cloth fabric and the two spoke steering wheel has a "soft feel" finish.
Sahara models have trailcloth seat fabric and a leather covered tilt adjustable steering wheel, as well as adding a variable intermittent to the standard two speed wash/wipe system. Extra oddment space is provided by a rear seat "saddlebag".
The most obvious difference between the two models, however, centres on Sahara"s standard removable hardtop which has glass side and rear windows as well as a heated rear window and rear wash/wipe. The hardtop is available as an option on Sport models.
Other visual differences include body colour wheelarch mouldings and a "Sahara" graphic on the spare wheel cover. Five spoke alloy wheels are standard, while the anti-theft radio/cassette has CD compatibility and four, rather than two, loudspeakers.
Warranty
All Wrangler models are covered by the comprehensive Jeep
warranty scheme, which provides a three-year/60,000 mile mechanical
warranty, six-year anti-corrosion warranty and 12 months roadside
assistance. Under the Jeep Privileges programme, owners can
choose to extend warranty and roadside assistance coverage
and take advantage of both competitive finance and insurance
rates.
