New Jaguar S-TYPE Sets The Pace On Pricing

Jaguar today announces pricing for its new S-TYPE 2004 range, including the all-new, state-of-the-art twin-turbo V6 diesel model, which will be available in the UK from June 2004.

The arrival of the new, twin-turbo AJD-V6 engine marks yet another milestone in the evolution of Jaguar’s S-TYPE premium executive saloon. Buyers will be able for the first time to choose diesel power, alongside the existing four petrol engine options.

The all-new V6 Diesel model is a logical and welcome addition to the new S-TYPE range. It complements perfectly the existing 2.5 V6, 3.0 V6 and 4.2 litre V8 models, which are on sale from April, offering S-TYPE customers the choice of diesel power without sacrifice.

As with the rest of the range, the new S-TYPE Diesel boasts attractive costs of ownership to attract the premium segment buyer who expects strong value for money as well as style and performance – even from a luxury marque. And for the company car user, all new S-TYPEs have competitive CO2 ratings and strong residual values.

But perhaps most crucially, the new S-TYPE, whether powered by a petrol or diesel, supercharged, turbocharged or naturally aspirated engine, retains its unique Jaguar personality: a combination of bold, athletic styling, driver-focussed performance, outstanding comfort and refinement, and an unrivalled emotional appeal underpinned by outstanding driving dynamics.

The 2.5 V6 sets the tone for other new S-TYPE models, with extremely competitive pricing all the way up to the range-topping S-TYPE R.

S-TYPE petrol motoring now begins from £25,770 for the 2.5 V6, while the new diesel range will be priced from £27,670 for the 2.7D. The entry-level 2.7D offers significantly better value-for-money, both optically and when adjusted for feature, than the BMW 530d and the Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI.

The new S-TYPE diesel will therefore be able to compete for customers with the less powerful BMW 525d and Mercedes-Benz E270 CDI. SE and Sport variants are priced identically across the range with the 2.7D Sport and SE versions priced at £31,670.
