As you would expect the Jaguar XF has the usual array of airbags and safety features such as Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control through engine and brake intervention, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Engine Drag Torque Control.

Safety and Security

As you would expect the Jaguar XF has the usual array of airbags and safety features such as Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control through engine and brake intervention, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Engine Drag Torque Control.
And for the first time, the XF adds Understeer Control Logic, which has been designed to mitigate understeer by intervening through the engine management and braking systems to decelerate the car and help restore grip to the front wheels.

A two-stage Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system similar to that featured on the Jaguar XK is standard. It combines the normal on-off switchable DSC function, which reacts as soon as it detects slip, with Trac DSC, which allows more slip before intervening  better for a more sporting driving experience. It also allows a degree of wheel overspin on deep soft surfaces, which is essential for running with snow chains. The system defaults to normal ‘DSC on’ with each ignition-on sequence.
Infotainment

The Jaguar XF premium luxury model is well equipped with standard touch screen navigation, a six disc in dash CD auto-changer and Bluetooth technology that allows mobile handsets with Bluetooth capability to communicate with the car’s in-built telephone system and phone calls can be controlled either via the touch-screen or hands-free, using the steering wheel controls or JaguarVoice control. We found it a little hit and miss trying to connect our iPhone and PDA to the car, but we did get it to work eventually.
Our test car was fitted with the optional Bowers & Wilkins 440W Surround Sound System which has a remote amplifier with Dolby Pro-Logic II 7.1 Surround Sound and 14 speakers.
You can connect you MP3 player, iPod and or USB storage devices such as a memory stick to the audio system.  In a world first, full touch-screen control of the iPod allows access to Playlists and Music search by Artist, Album or Genre. USB Mass Storage devices may also be accessed via the touch-screen and other players can be connected to the car through the standard fit auxiliary input port.
Our test car was also fitted with a Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radio tuner which had mixed reception, in our Devon location. We also benefited from the optional analogue/digital TV tuner, which sensibly only works when stationary.
The touch screen DVD Satellite Navigation system includes full post code destination entry and TMC which can automatically recalculate your route and warn you of delays such as accidents or road works on your planned route.
