Jaguar Land Rover Awarded Gold In The 2011 Corporate Responsibility Index

Jaguar Land Rover has been honoured by Business in the Community for its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility by being awarded Gold in the Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index and a Big Tick award for Environmental Leadership.

The awards are a result of Jaguar Land Rover's continuing commitment to CR through business operations, with the company increasing its score by ten percentage points from Silver to Golf in one year.

Mike Wright, Executive Director, Jaguar Land Rover said: "Corporate Social Responsibility has long been a core value for Jaguar Land Rover and permeates every aspect of our business from the environmental impact of our products and operations to engagement with our employees, community groups and nationwide educational establishments. It is therefore very satisfying to see the efforts of our entire team recognised by Business in the Community."

The CR Index is the UK's leading voluntary benchmark of Corporate Responsibility. It's a framework to help companies to integrate and improve CR throughout their operations by providing a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting on business impact in society and on the environment.

Many key measures make up Jaguar Land Rover's CR strategy, with environmental performance being one of them. The Environmental Innovation programme has been awarded a Big Tick for Environmental Leadership, which recognises the commitment Jaguar Land Rover makes to sustainable products ad manufacturing processes, CO2 reductions and improved fuel efficiency through a comprehensive employee engagement initiative.

Environmental Innovation is a company-wide framework which is used to structure, measure and evaluate efforts to reduce environmental impact and increase efficiency. It was established three years ago, with long term business targets for products and processes, with an overall target of 25 per cent reductions in operational CO2 emissions as well as waste to landfill 2012, a ten per cent water consumption reduction by 2012, and 25 per cent reduction in tailpipe emissions compared to 2007 levels by 2015.

We take our sustainability responsibilities very seriously and our Ei programme has enabled us to engage widely across the business, and it is satisfying to see our commitment rewarded. There have already been significant results across the business with improved environmental performance of vehicles and progress in achieving our targets for reducing CO2, water and waste. This award will encourage and inspire our employees to continue working hard towards sustainable development."
