The 3.0 litre 4x4 luxury Double Cab pickup was tested for all aspects of towing by seven experienced judges in the 22nd competition of its type.
In total, 22 manufacturers entered 51 vehicles in 10 categories. However, the new explosion in lifestyle pickup sales created one of the most fiercely-fought classes in the highly-regarded contest.
The Isuzu Rodeo Denver beat rivals from Ford, Mitsubishi and Nissan over a gruelling test course at the famous Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.
Judges looked at all aspects of towing including hill starts, traction, stability, engine pulling power and practical features such as the car’s ability to accommodate large bulky loads such as awning bags and water carriers.
They also checked for how level the vehicle remained when hitched to the caravan and ease of attachment of the trailer’s breakaway cable.
Now with a 3,000 kg braked towing limit in 3.0 litre form, the Rodeo pickup range has proved a big success since launch last November thanks to its performance and impressive safety equipment and comfort.
