  • Improved specification 2004 Invicta S1 sportscar now in full production

The Invicta Car Company has been invited to demonstrate its 170 mph British-built, V8-powered S1 luxury coupe at two of the most prestigious and glamorous events on the 2004 motoring calendar – the Le Mans 24 Hours race and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

"We are delighted to have received invitations recently to join two of the highest profile events on the automotive calendar," comments Invicta Chairman Michael Bristow. "The invite from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest to take part in the Supercar Parade at last weekend’s Le Mans 24 Hours race, was most appropriate as 2004 marks the 75th anniversary of the last appearance of the Invicta marque racing at the Sarthe Circuit." The Invicta S1 was one of only two supercars – the other was a Ferrari Enzo – chosen by the ACO to be displayed on a special stand throughout the 24 hours of the event.

"The second invitation, from Lord March, to perform in the Supercar Run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the second year in a row, is a wonderful endorsement of the S1’s appeal," continues Bristow. "The reception given to the then-new S1 at Goodwood in 2003 was hugely encouraging and we look forward to demonstrating the Invicta’s speed and glorious V8 sound once again, before such an appreciative audience."

Last month Invicta revealed a much improved version of its 170 mph S1 luxury two-seater sportscar at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live. The sleek 2004 model S1 features revised suspension settings for a more comfortable ride, but retains the sharp turn-in and agile handling of the prototype. Inside, the quality, fit and finish of the all-leather hand-crafted interior is greatly enhanced.

Production of the S1 for 2004 is mostly allocated and a number of customers have placed deposits on cars for delivery in 2005. Invicta plans to deliver 20 cars in the next 12 months. The S1 is hand-built by a team of highly-skilled technicians, and produced in strictly limited numbers at Invicta’s facility in Chippenham, Wiltshire.
